The EnerGuide program is a program offered for new houses by Office of Energy Efficiency of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). The program is an incentive to build environmentally friendly homes right from the start. There are also benefits for CMHC insured financing to purchase energy-efficient homes that have an EnerGuide rating of 77 or higher. You may be eligible to receive a 10% mortgage loan insurance premium refund. Please contact us for more details.

The EnerGuide program is directed towards new homes that are being planned for construction. The certified Sage Energy advisors will help you plan your home to be more energy efficient. Once your home is complete, and after doing a follow up assessment of your home, Sage Energy advisors will certify your home with an official EnerGuide label.

EnerGuide Process

1. The EnerGuide rating service starts with an analysis of your new house plans by a Sage Energy EnerGuide rating service Energy Expert.

2. The Energy Advisor recommends energy-saving upgrades and works with your builder to develop a report that lists various cost-effective options.

3. Your builder then estimates the upgrade work and provides you with a price.

4. When construction is done, the Sage Energy EnerGuide Energy Advisor verifies the applied energy upgrades and performs a blower door test.

5. After the data has been collected, your home receives its EnerGuide rating.

6. You're provided an official label to display the rating on your home's furnace or electrical box.
